Refund policy

At Captain's Clothing,we want you to love your purchase. This policy explains your rights and our process for returns and refunds. It complies with the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA).
1. Cooling-Off Period (Change of Mind)
For online purchases, you have 7 days from the date you receive your order to cancel and return the goods for any reason (ECTA cooling-off right).
The goods must be unused, in their original condition, packaging, and with all tags/labels attached.
You (the customer) are responsible for the cost of returning the goods to us.
We will issue a full refund of the purchase price (excluding original shipping fees) within 10 business days of receiving the returned item in acceptable condition.
2. Defective, Damaged, or Incorrect Items (Statutory Rights)
Under the CPA, you may return goods within 6 months of delivery if:
The item is defective, unsafe, or not of acceptable quality.
It is not fit for the purpose for which it is normally used.
You received the wrong item or it was damaged in transit.
In these cases:
You can choose a full refund, repair, or replacement.
We will cover the return shipping costs (or arrange collection where possible).
Refunds will be processed within 10 business days once we inspect and approve the return.
3. Non-Returnable Items
The following cannot be returned (except if defective):
Personalised, custom-made, or made-to-order items.
Hygiene-sensitive products (e.g. underwear, swimwear, cosmetics, earrings) once opened or used.
Digital downloads, gift cards, or vouchers.
Items marked as Final Sale or Non-Refundable.
Goods that have been used, washed, altered, or damaged by you.
4. How to Initiate a Return
Contact us within the applicable timeframe via email through our website chat/support.
Provide your order number, reason for return, and photos (especially for defective/damaged items).
We will send you return instructions and (if applicable) a returns authorisation.
Ship the item back to:

(Please use a trackable courier service.)
Once we receive and inspect the item, we will notify you of the approval or rejection.
5. Refund Process
Refunds are issued to the original payment method.
For credit/debit cards: 5–10 business days after approval.
We do not refund original shipping costs unless the return is due to our error (wrong/defective item).
Return shipping costs are non-refundable unless covered under defective items.
6. Inspection & Condition
All returns are subject to inspection. Items must be returned in a resalable condition. If we determine the item has been used beyond reasonable testing or is damaged due to customer fault, we may refuse the return or issue only a partial refund.
